Urgent Security Campaign

  • The tragic events of the last day of Pesach, Saturday, April 27 at Chabad of Poway and the massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue six months ago tell us that our community needs to act now to strengthen our security and ensure our continued safety, with G-dā€™s help.

We were beginning to take steps to enhance our security before the latest tragedy, but it has become imperative that we accelerate our timetable. This will take a significant effort that will necessitate our friends and supporters coming up with necessary funding. Chabad of Greater South Bay is launching a campaign to raise $295,000 to cover our security needs over the next two years.

I am establishing an EMERGENCY SECURITY FUND to deal exclusively with this need.

    This includes the following:

Armed Security Guards at Chabad Palo Alto for Shabbat and Major Holiday Observances (two years) $59,000

Improved Fencing and Gate Protection (Louis Road) - $65,000

Lighting and Surveillance Upgrade - $11,000

Security Upgrades to Preschool and affiliated Chabad Centers $125,000

    Staff and Community Training $15,000

    Other Contingencies $20,000

I cannot emphasize enough the urgency of moving forward on this issue.

Please help us reach our goal to provide security for our communities. We pray that Hashem, the Guardian if Israel, will bless our efforts and help keep us safe.

Thank you for your support in this urgent matter.
